The year 2023 in review

In the dynamic landscape of commerce, 2023 unfolded for us as a chapter marked by innovation, evolution, and a glimpse into the future.

Amidst our ongoing work developing custom technical solutions for nearly a dozen clients, our Summer Sprints Campaign — a public build of several plugins and a headless ecommerce boilerplate on YouTube — was a pivotal moment, steering the direction of numerous product development initiatives.

And the Dot All Conference 2023 in Barcelona was a highlight!

Over the summer, our Summer Sprints became a hallmark campaign, fostering accelerated growth and excitement!

Those who followed along witnessed the inception of several new plugins: "Foster Checkout," "The Variant Manager," and "Commerce Reports," as well as "Commerce Foundations," our headless Craft Commerce ecommerce boilerplate.

Each of these projects symbolizes our dedication to quality craftsmanship and cutting-edge solutions that redefine what's possible for our clients. Most of all, we had a lot of fun “building in public” and sharing the ups and downs of product development with our viewers.

This year we introduced brand strategy and design as a new service. With a dedicated focus on elevating brands and products, we proudly facilitated the branding journey for two clients.

The brand strategy we did for Concordia Wealth Planning's app opened up new, unseen possibilities, while the work we did for Velocity Pi solidified and focused its brand narrative, bringing it to life through design.

It was our honor this year to have two Foster Commerce team members invited to share insights at our key industry event, Dot All 2023, the annual developer conference produced by Pixel & Tonic.

Dot All served as a platform for knowledge exchange and networking, amplifying our commitment to Craft CMS as a platform and the community as a whole. We had a lot of fun being with friends and seeing the sights, too!

Amidst growth and progress, we welcomed new colleagues who brought fresh perspectives, fostering an environment of expertise and collaboration. Joining our team were Matt, Lisa, Ty, and Darrik, enriching our collective expertise and camaraderie.

Their new perspectives in their roles as Lead Account Manager, UX Designer, Senior Software Engineer, and Head of Engineering, respectfully, reshaped our approach to serving clients, empowering us to reimagine processes and increase efficiency.

As part of focusing on our core offer and core tech, we bid adieu to the Snipcart plugin for Craft CMS. We also considered for a brief moment whether we’d become Shopify developers but in the end, decided against it.

We also made a move to evolve beyond the traditional Project Manager role, marking a shift towards a more agile and adaptive operational structure.

As we look towards the promising horizon of 2024, anticipation looms large for the unveiling and launch of our newest software products. We’re also excited that we’ll be starting up the Commerce Minded podcast again!

Beyond these milestones, a plethora of client work awaits, promising partnerships that we hope shape a shared future that's as innovative as it is transformative.

In retrospect, 2023 stands as a testament to our resilience, adaptability, and unwavering commitment to the best we can offer to clients. As we step into the future, our journey continues, fueled by the passion to pioneer change and redefine possibilities in the realms of branding, commerce, and technology.
